Un viaje por el tiempo: Los juegos Olímpicos.

¡Hola curiosos!

Hoy  me gustaría que hiciéseis conmigo un viaje en el tiempo hacia cada año de Juegos Olímpicos, para enterarnos de las mejores curiosidades y no olvidar la historia de tal evento deportivo, con tanta repercusión a nivel mundial.

¡Así que empezamos... rumbo a Atenas!

•  Atenas 1896. Los primeros JJOO modernos. Se construyó el Estadio Olímpico “Panathinaikos”, para 70.000 espectadores. Participaron 311 deportistas de 13 países. Nació la “Maratón”. No participó ningún deportista español.
  

• París 1900. Intereses extradeportivos (financieros) fueron uno de los motivos por los que se decidió que los JJOO no se celebraran de manera permnente en Atenas. El barón de Coubertein  se esmeró porque se celebrasen en París, aunque la organización dejó mucho que desear.

• Saint Louis 1904. Primeros Juegos disputados fuera del continente europeo. Los Juegos Olímpicos de 1904 fueron desafortunadamente marcados por la segregación racial. El desfile inaugural, con el título de Anthropological Day (El Día Antropológico), mostraba a los espectadores miembros de razas supuestamente inferiores que luego competirían en eventos paralelos sin registro oficial. El barón de Coubertin calificó estos hechos como un espectáculo bochornoso.

• Londres 1908. Los árbitros del evento eran todos ingleses y se les criticó duramente por “favorecer” a sus compatriotas, a partir de aquí se decidió que los jueces y árbitros perteneciesen a todos los países participantes. Además se creó una importante polémica (en relación a la religión) por haber competición el domingo.

•  Estocolmo 1912 Apareció el cronometraje con “foto-finish”. Jim Thorpe, ganador del “pentatlón” y del “decatlón”, fue desposeído por ser considerado profesional. El COI devolvió sus medallas a sus hijos en 1980. Participaron 2.504 deportistas.

• Amberes 1920. La bandera y los anillos entrelazados. fue concebida por Coubertin y adoptada oficialmente por el c.o.i. en 1914. se utilizó por primera vez en los j.j.o.o. de amberes de 1920. los anillos representan los continentes unidos por el deporte y los colores, los que en su época constituían la gama cromática de todas las banderas de los estados del mundo. Primera representación del Comité Olímpico Español, con 31 deportistas. Se consiguieron 2 medallas de plata: en polo y en fútbol.

Today I would like to do a trip  with you, back in time to every Olympic year, to learn from the best sights and not forgetting the history of this sporting event, with such impact worldwide.


So we started ... heading to Athens! 

• Athens 1896. The first modern Olympic Games. Olympic "Panathinaikos' Stadium, 70,000 spectators was built. Participated 311 athletes from 13 countries. It was born, the "Marathon". Did not include any Spanish athlete.

• 1900 Paris. Non sporting interests (financial) were one of the reasons why it was decided that the Olympics were not celebrated in Athens. Coubertein helps in the decision thtat Olympic Games was celebrated in Paris, although the organization left a lot to be desired.

• Saint Louis 1904. First Games played outside Europe. The 1904 Olympics were unfortunately marked by racial segregation. The inaugural parade, with the title of Anthropological Day (The Day Anthropology), showed the audience members supposedly inferior races then compete in parallel events without official registration. The Baron de Coubertin described these events as a shameful spectacle.

• London 1908. The event referees were all English and were criticized for "favor" to his countrymen, from here it was decided that judges and referees belonged to all participating countries. Also a major controversy was created (relating to religion) for having competition on Sunday. 

• Stockholm 1912. Appeared timing with "photo finish". Jim Thorpe, winner of "pentathlon" and "Decathlon" was dispossessed to be considered professional. The IOC returned their medals to his children in 1980. 2,504 athletes participated.

• Antwerp 1920. The flag and rings intertwined. was conceived by Coubertin and officially adopted by the coi in 1914.
